Three colours, one blaze, and a cross on the chest

Every Bernese wears the same three colours, jet black, rust and white, but the blaze down the face, the rust over each eye and the white cross on the chest are drawn differently on every dog. Those markings are how you'd pick yours out of a line of Berners, and they come straight from your photo onto the shirt.

How this coat prints

A Berner's coat runs from pure white to jet black within a few inches, more range than most coats and most shirts can hold at once. On a black shirt the black body sinks into the fabric, leaving the white and rust to carry the dog. Moss softens that: the blaze and chest glow against it, the black body turns into the shirt's own deep olive instead of a void, and the green ground makes the rust look warmer. Seafoam is the light option, a shade darker than the white markings so they keep their edges, with the black and rust standing out strongly. The coat itself is long, thick and slightly wavy with a natural sheen, which gives the photo presets plenty of texture.

The photo to use

A tricolour is the hardest exposure a phone faces: pure white right beside jet black. Bright sun blows out the blaze and the chest, and deep shade turns the dark brown eyes into part of the black head. Overcast daylight, or open shade with a bright sky in front of the dog, holds both ends. Step back far enough to get the chest in, because the white cross is half of a Berner's identity and most presets frame the head and chest. And wipe the mouth first; a big dog's jowls hold on to whatever it last drank.

Questions

Will the white cross on the chest be in the picture?

If your photo includes the chest, yes. The cross sits right where most presets end, so a photo cropped at the chin loses it and one with the front legs in frame keeps it.

My Berner is a puppy. Should I wait for the adult coat?

Not if the puppy is the dog you want to remember. Berner puppies are tricolour from the start, so every marking is already there; the coat is just shorter and fluffier, and the artwork follows the coat in the photo.

Mine has very little white. Is moss still right?

Moss or lighter. The less white a Berner has, the more the dog depends on its black reading against the shirt, and seafoam or ivory shows a mostly dark coat more completely than any dark shirt can.
