The fox face, the cream cheeks, the side-eye
A shiba's face is a set of triangles, ears tilted forward, small deep-set eyes, a muzzle narrowing to a point, with cream markings called urajiro across the cheeks, throat and chest. The urajiro is different on every shiba, and so is the expression, which ranges from serene to deeply unimpressed. Your photo supplies both, which is how the shirt ends up with your shiba's face rather than a fox's.

How this coat prints
Red is the classic shiba colour, and a warm orange-red wants a ground that isn't warm. Black makes the red and the cream both glow. Seafoam, a cool pale green, sits opposite red on the colour wheel, so the coat looks its reddest there while the cream urajiro stays a shade lighter than the fabric. Black-and-tan shibas are the exception: on a black shirt their black drops into the fabric, so seafoam or ivory shows the whole dog. Sesame and cream shibas sit between the two and suit either shirt.
The photo to use
Shibas rarely look at a camera because they've been asked to. Let yours settle, then make one unfamiliar sound beside the lens, a click of the tongue or a crinkled wrapper, and shoot during the single look you get. Keep to open shade: in bright sun those small, deep-set eyes narrow to slits and the cream cheeks wash out to white. Shoot face-on rather than in profile; the profile is where the fox comparison comes from, but the urajiro sits on both cheeks, and only a front view shows both.
Presets that suit this dog

Red and cream are a shiba's own colours and the colours of Holiday Knit's fair-isle sweater collar, so the knit looks like it came with the dog, and nothing sits on the fox face.

Milkshake catches the dog mid-sip with its eyes turned up at you, sweet and content: on a shiba, the rare picture of one visibly enjoying something it was offered.

Gold Name engraves the whole dog in pale cream strokes on black, so the red goes but the urajiro across the cheeks and throat becomes the brightest part of the drawing, with the name in gold behind; it's one of the dark-shirt-only looks.
Questions
My shiba won't look at the camera. Can I use a side-on photo?
You can, but the preview will be built around that angle: one eye, one cheek, half the urajiro. A front view, even one turned slightly away, gives the artwork both sides of the face, and previews are free, so it's worth a few tries.
Will the cream markings get lost on a light shirt?
On a pale shirt like ivory or butter they can, because the urajiro is close to those colours. Seafoam and chambray are cool and just dark enough to keep the cream visible, and any dark shirt makes it stand out.
My shiba is sesame. Will the black tipping show?
On the photo presets, yes, if the photo is sharp. Sesame is fine dark tipping over red, and soft focus blends it into flat brown, so shoot close and in shade and it reads as sesame.
