How Woodblock is drawn
Ukiyo-e technique: bold black key-lines, flat layered colour with no gradients, and the indigo, vermilion and gold of the period. A great wave curls behind your pet with Mount Fuji small on the horizon. Flat colour is the defining constraint - the medium has no soft shading, so everything is described by outline and by where one colour stops.
Which pets it suits
Anything with a clear silhouette. Flat colour cannot rely on fur texture to tell a shape, so the outline does all the work: pointed ears, a plumed tail and a defined muzzle all come through beautifully, while very fluffy coats get simplified into shape rather than strands. Markings survive as blocks of colour, which is usually charming.
Whatever the medium, identity outranks it: the generator is told never to change breed, face shape, coat colour, markings, eye colour or ears. The photo guidelines cover what to upload.
How it prints
Flat-colour art is the easiest thing in the world to print well, because there are no gradients to band and no shadows to lose. It looks correct on almost every garment. Ivory is the closest to real washi paper; true navy makes the wave the loudest thing on the shirt.

Is there Japanese text on the print?＋
No. Image models generate unreliable lettering, so this style is drawn without characters or a signature block.
Will my dog still be recognisable in a flat-colour style?＋
Identity outranks style in the generator's instructions, so breed, markings and face are held to your photo. But this is a stylised medium by definition - expect your dog rendered as a woodblock print, not a photograph.
Which shirt colour is closest to the real prints?＋
Ivory or khaki. Both read as aged paper, which is what surviving ukiyo-e prints actually look like now.
